Our Story

A few years ago, after being called into vocational ministry after over ten years in the classroom teaching high school math, my family and I moved to Midland, TX. There I would serve in student ministry while working through the calling I heard from God to plant a church in a place where the gospel was still a faint whisper. I knew God had given me a desire to serve the lost and broken. As I saw God’s heart for the poor in spirit, I continued to wonder where God would lead.

During my time in Midland, I began to pray about where that place might be, while continuing to love and care for the students I served in Midland. I knew that I loved the city of Seattle, and in general, the Pacific Northwest. I knew of its lostness, and need for gospel-centered churches. What I didn’t know, and you may not either, is that Denver is a lost city too.

People in northern Colorado yearn for the mountains and adventure, not to see God’s glory be magnified. In 2023, I went with a group of students to serve in Longmont, CO with a church plant called Connection Church. When we returned to Midland, I knew God might be calling me there. What I didn’t know was the timing.

My time at FBC Midland was very formative. It was my first role in ministry. I continued seminary education, and am now only two short courses away from graduating. I was able to spend some time visiting other church planters in various locations throughout North America.

A message at a church planting conference solidified my understanding of where and when God was calling me. Revelation 20:3 says that “[Jesus] threw him [Satan] into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him so that he might not deceive the nations any longer until the thousand years were ended.” The pastor exhorted that because Satan has been bound, now is the time to plunder from the Enemy.

Today, we are planting Dwell Church. We desire to exist so that the word of Christ would dwell richly in the hearts and minds of the people of Berthoud and the rest of northern Colorado. We desire to plunder from the Enemy and guide a lost place. We want people to loudly hear and know of the abundant life offered by Jesus.
